Leadership Development

Barnabus Program, Titus 2 & more

The Barnabus Program: B1

REGISTRATION CLOSED

Sundays, 7:00PM - 8:30PM

September 28, 2025 - May 10, 2026

The Barnabas Program is the “in house” leadership development program of Cornerstone Baptist Church Orillia. The purpose of the program is to teach leadership the Jesus way. Jesus said:

“The kings of the Gentiles exercise lordship over them, and those in authority over them are called benefactors. But not so with you.” (Luke 22:25–26 ESV)

Leadership in the church of Jesus Christ is not leadership in the corporate world with a little Jesus thrown in, nor is it precisely analogous to leadership in the world of athletics or the world of politics. Jesus led in a particular way, and he requires us as his followers to lead in particular ways as well.

The Barnabas Program is divided up into 3 separate stages:

  • B1 focuses on the essential CHARACTER of the Christian leader.
  • B2 focuses on DOCTRINE and TEACHING.
  • B3 focuses on POLITY and PRACTICE and is the general prerequisite for serving as an Elected Elder.

B1 is open to all men who are interested in Christian leadership in the home or in the church. Participants will be required to attend no fewer than 13 of the 15 teaching sessions and 5 of the 7 Core Services that are part of the program. They must also complete a minimum of 90% of the assigned Bible Reading plan and present a brief book report on a biography of a Christian leader from a pre-approved list of options in order to be considered a graduate of the program.

The course will have two components. The first semester will focus on the character of a Christian man, using 1 Timothy 6:11 as a guide, while the second semester will focus on the character of a Christian leader as set forth in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

Reading Requirements:

Each participant will be required to follow the RMM Bible Reading Plan for the duration of the course (from September 28th 2025 – May 10th 2026) as well as reading one of the pre-selected biographies of a Christian leader. A 1000-1500 word book report must be submitted on April 26th 2026. The RMM Bible Reading Plan will be handed out at the first session and a list of approved biographies will be provided on the first night as well. Students are responsible for securing the book in either print or digital form.
