Annual General Meeting

Our 2025 Annual General Meeting has been scheduled for Monday, June 23 at 6:30pm in the sanctuary.   All members are encouraged to join us for a service of celebration, discussion and prayerful discernment.  Non-members may also attend with non-voting privileges.

More details, including information on voting for elected Elders as well as accessing the Annual General Report, to come by June 8.

Why do we need an AGM?

God designed the church to have a congregational polity. This means that the gathered body of believers covenanted in membership together has the final authority and responsibility for the function of that particular local church. The elders and pastors of the church work hard to do much of the tedious legwork, but they do not have unlimited power so as to impose their will on the members. Instead, they function as models and servant leaders who help equip the congregation to do gospel ministry. So when we have an Annual General Meeting, it is the obligation of the members of Cornerstone Baptist Church, Orillia to participate fully because the congregation will determine the movement of the church, guided by the recommendation of the Board of Elected Elders and committees.
